Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Jamey and Arthur went to the Pumpkin Patch at the Pomeroy farm with their classes. There was so much to do with playing, feeding animals, going down pumpkin lane, getting hay rides and of course, choosing the right pumpkin. After much deliberation both boys found the pumpkin meant for them. They came home with them for a night of carving the traditional Jack-O-Lanterns. It was a great day!

Biking with the Boys

James and I picked up trailers for the boys so they could have the fun of joining us on our bike trips. We stopped at a park and ride to attach the trailers to the bikes, only to find that a few needed pieces were missing. Not to worry though. With a little bit of ingenuity, a plastic water bottle cut into strips, and duct tape, James was able to solve the problem. Good thing too as we had two little anxiously awaiting boys who couldn't wait to get on.

Here are the James' enjoying a test run of the new bike trailer. Later that night these two bike from our house to Amboy Market and brought home apples. This is a definite hit!

Here are Grandma Jill and Arthur testing out his trailer. Arthur stated that "This is better than Wii!". All in all it was a successful trail run of biking with the kids. We will be including them on most of our weekend trips from now on.

Chili Cookoff and Peanut Butter Balls

Thursday night the Battle Ground Kiwanis is holding a chili competition which I, James, and my mom are all entering. They are serving a full meal with chili (surprise!), corn on the cob, cornbread, and desserts.

So I am making Peanut Butter Balls to add to the dessert portion of the meal, along with my blue ribbon vegetarian chili. This recipe comes from my friend Joyce Miller. They remind me so much of Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Yummy!! The kids have been enjoying the peanut butter filling and are anxiously awaiting for the balls to be dipped in chocolate. Hope I have some filling left to dip at this rate. This recipe is super easy and tasty.

Peanut Butter Balls

1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1 stick soft butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 pound confectioner's sugar
Chocolate, melted over warm water for dipping

Mix all together, roll into small balls and dip into melted chocolate.
